Applications to the Mowbray Primary School Early Years Foundation Stage
Applications for Nursery are made directly to school. If you would like your child to attend Mowbray Primary School Nursery, you are required to fill in a Nursery Placement Application Form available here: Nursery Application Form
We have three intakes per year (September, January and April) and these intakes coincide with the start of each new school term. Children start our nursery the term after their third birthday. Therefore if a child turns 3 years old on 14th October, they would start our nursery from the following January.
When applying for a place within the nursery unit, parents / carers can express their preference for a morning place, an afternoon place or can indicate they wish to take up the offer of an all day place by using the 30 Hours Free Childcare entitlement (if eligible). However, although we will make every effort, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer the preferred session as this depends upon the numbers of children already attending the Nursery Unit.
If you are considering applying for a place at our Nursery and would like to arrange a visit to view our provision, please contact our Early Years Lead, Miss Zoe Lisle via email Zoe.Lisle@mowbrayprimary.northumberland.sch.uk or by telephoning the School Office on 01670 823 198
Applications to Reception are very different to applications to Nursery. All applications to Reception must go through the Admissions Team at Northumberland County Council. There is one intake per year which is in September. Applications for Reception places open in November each year and are normally made through an online portal on Northumberland County Council's web page. The window for applications is normally open until middle of January. You can not apply for a Reception place directly through the school. Parents are notified of their child’s place on National Offers day in mid-April for admissions the following September.
You must complete an application for a place in a Reception class even if your child attends the school nursery - there is no automatic right to a place in Mowbray Reception if your child has attended Mowbray Nursery (this is the case for all nursery aged children applying for a Reception place not just a rule for Mowbray).
Parents and carers are welcome to visit the Early Years Unit to meet staff before submitting their application form.
