Counselling and Nurture Support

Mowbray Primary School has an excellent pastoral system which was highly praised in our Inspection in January 2020. We employ Mrs Jane Baines as the Pastoral Manager and she leads on all aspects of pastoral support from attendance through to supporting emotional Health and Well-being.

Mrs Baines has developed our nurture provision across the whole school. This uses targeted support to help the children overcome any areas which are barriers to their learning. These barriers may be friendship issues, social and emotional difficulties, development of listening and concentration skills as an example of just a few.

Nurture provision is available to all children in school throughout the week; however, Mrs Baines specifically works within our Early Years Unit every Friday.

In addition to our nurture provision, Mrs Baines is also a fully qualified Counsellor and member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP). As such, we are in the unique position to offer bespoke in house counselling to children and their families which can support people through a huge range of issues - even if they are not related to education; e.g. bereavement, family breakup, severe illness diagnosis. We have a bespoke, private counselling room which Mrs Baines uses to offer this service.

If you would like to contact Mrs Baines directly, please email Jane.Baines@mowbrayprimary.northumberland.sch.uk or telephone her work phone directly on 07595613842
