Larch Class News

20th May 2019

It’s been another busy few weeks in Larch Class. Last half term our topic was ‘The Great Fire of London’. We learned all about the fire in 1666 and about Samuel Pepys and his diary. We read a non-fiction book and learned about the different features.

In maths we did all sorts about measurement, we learned how to measure and record length and weight and we even made potions to learn about capacity.

In science we have been learning about plants. We have grown some beans, learned about different plants and trees and we have taken apart plants to look at their structure.

This half term our topic is ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’. We have learned about different types of transport from the past and present as well as famous inventors such as George Stephenson. We had a fantastic time at the Discovery Museum as part of our topic, we explored old and new vehicles and even made our own cars. Our story has been ‘Those Magnificent Sheep in their Flying Machine’ about a group of sheep who borrowed a plane and travelled the world. We have also done some transport poetry.

This half term we had the chance to go to the ‘Hoopstarz’ festival, where we learned lots of different trick with a hoola hoop. It was great fun!
