Elmer Week!

21st June 2019

We had a fantastic Elmer themed week last week. In English we read Elmer stories and produced fiction and poetry writing based on them. Some classes researched elephants and wrote reports about them.

In maths, Elmer appeared in work on position and direction, statistics and measurement. There was lots of artwork done based on the patchwork elephant including an ‘art attack’ style giant elephant on the yard, origami and the making and decorating of soft toy elephants! Each class also decorated their leaves ready to go onto our Elmer sculpture. In Forest School, we read ‘Elmer and the Flood’ and used materials to build bridges and boats.

We continued with our fundraising for St Oswald’s Hospice through the grandparent coffee afternoon, biscuits on sale at breaktimes and our colourful non-uniform day. We have raised over £500 so far, which is fantastic!
